Project Overview: Erection of 36.0m Composite Girder | Rishikesh–Karnaprayag Rail Link | Package-2
As part of the strategic New Broad Gauge (BG) rail link between Rishikesh and Karnaprayag, CICO executed the erection of a 36.0-meter span Composite Girder under Package-2, covering chainage 18+444 to 33+097. This section includes the construction of tunnels, bridges, and formation works through the rugged and seismic-prone terrain of Uttarakhand—a project of national importance under Indian Railways’ ambitious connectivity mission to the Himalayan region.
CICO’s scope involved high-precision fabrication, transportation, and erection of the composite girder, executed under tight logistical constraints and challenging site conditions. The remote hilly landscape and limited access points required expert planning, specialized launching equipment, and strict adherence to safety protocols.
With advanced CAD detailing, pre-launch trial assemblies, and quality checks adhering to Indian Railway standards, the girder was installed with structural accuracy and operational readiness.
This project showcases CICO’s strength in delivering complex infrastructure solutions in high-altitude zones, reinforcing our capability in rail bridge erection, tunnel interfacing, and heavy structural works in the most demanding environments.
